Domestic Immersion Heaters

Backer Heatrod’s domestic immersion heaters and replacement elements heat the hot water cylinders found in UK homes. The range covers outputs from 1kW up to 6kW, in immersed lengths from 11" to 36" to suit both shallow and deep cylinders.


Elements come in three sheath materials, Incoloy for general use, copper, and titanium for harder water areas, and in the common UK thread sizes from 1½" and 1¾" through to 2" and 2¼" BSP, so you can match a direct replacement to your existing cylinder boss.


Many heaters are supplied with a combined operating and safety cut-out thermostat, and replacement thermostats, O-rings, caps and immersion heater spanners are stocked alongside. If you are replacing a failed element, match the immersed length, fitting size and wattage to your existing unit. For solar PV, off-peak or other renewable systems, the low-power eCo Heat range is designed for the job.

eCo Heat Low-Power Immersion Heaters
The HE1 (1kW), HE1.5 (1.5kW) and HE2 (2kW) low-power elements, designed for efficient water heating on solar PV, off-peak and other renewable systems where a full 3kW element is more than the supply needs.


Thermtec Domestic Immersion Heaters
Shell-pattern domestic immersion heaters for standard hot water cylinders, supplied with the operating and safety cut-out thermostat fitted.


1¾" BSP Immersion Heater Elements
Elements with a 1¾" BSP thread, available in Incoloy and titanium and in outputs up to 6kW, in 11" to 20" immersed lengths.


2" BSP Immersion Heater Elements
Elements with a 2" BSP thread for cylinders with the larger boss, in Incoloy and titanium, in 11" to 16" lengths, mostly rated at 3kW.


2¼" BSP Immersion Heater Elements
Elements with a 2¼" BSP thread, the traditional UK immersion size, in Incoloy, copper and titanium at 3kW, in lengths from 11" up to 36" for deeper tanks.
